Automotive Service Writer / Customer Service

Looking for a steady Monday–Friday position where you can learn something new and stay busy?
GT Transmissions is a family-owned transmission shop in Ronkonkoma that has been serving the Long Island community for 25 years. We're looking for a dependable, organized and friendly person to join our front office.
You do not need to be an automotive expert. Automotive or service-writing experience is definitely a plus, but we're willing to train the right person. If you have experience in customer service, scheduling, billing, parts, an automotive office or another fast-paced office environment, we'd like to hear from you.
What You'll Do
This is a customer-facing office position that helps coordinate the repair process from vehicle drop-off through completion. Responsibilities include:
- Answering phones and assisting customers
- Checking vehicles in and documenting customer concerns
- Creating repair orders, estimates and invoices
- Scheduling vehicle drop-offs and repairs
- Keeping customers updated on the status of their vehicles
- Communicating with technicians and management
- Ordering parts and tracking orders and returns
- Processing payments
- Reconciling parts invoices and vendor statements
- Maintaining accurate customer and vehicle records
- Keeping the daily office workflow organized
Who We're Looking For
The right person for this position is someone who is:
- Dependable and punctual
- Friendly and comfortable talking with customers
- Organized and able to keep track of multiple things at once
- Detail-oriented
- Comfortable with computers and learning new software
- A good communicator
- Willing to ask questions and learn
- Comfortable around cats- We have a shop cat, (Axle) who basically runs the office. If you have allergies, or just don't like cats, this probably won't be the right fit!
A valid driver's license and good computer skills are required.
Automotive experience is helpful, but not required.
Hours & Pay
Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
$17–$22 per hour
No nights or weekends
