Automotive Service Writer / Customer Service

Looking for a steady Monday–Friday position where you can learn something new and stay busy?

GT Transmissions is a family-owned transmission shop in Ronkonkoma that has been serving the Long Island community for 25 years. We're looking for a dependable, organized and friendly person to join our front office.

You do not need to be an automotive expert. Automotive or service-writing experience is definitely a plus, but we're willing to train the right person. If you have experience in customer service, scheduling, billing, parts, an automotive office or another fast-paced office environment, we'd like to hear from you.

What You'll Do

This is a customer-facing office position that helps coordinate the repair process from vehicle drop-off through completion. Responsibilities include:

Answering phones and assisting customers
Checking vehicles in and documenting customer concerns
Creating repair orders, estimates and invoices
Scheduling vehicle drop-offs and repairs
Keeping customers updated on the status of their vehicles
Communicating with technicians and management
Ordering parts and tracking orders and returns
Processing payments
Reconciling parts invoices and vendor statements
Maintaining accurate customer and vehicle records
Keeping the daily office workflow organized

Who We're Looking For

The right person for this position is someone who is:

Dependable and punctual
Friendly and comfortable talking with customers
Organized and able to keep track of multiple things at once
Detail-oriented
Comfortable with computers and learning new software
A good communicator
Willing to ask questions and learn
Comfortable around cats- We have a shop cat, (Axle) who basically runs the office. If you have allergies, or just don't like cats, this probably won't be the right fit!

A valid driver's license and good computer skills are required.

Automotive experience is helpful, but not required.

Hours & Pay

Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
$17–$22 per hour
No nights or weekends
